Do you come out to Lakeway, or do I have to come into Austin?
Either works for me. I shoot around Lakeway and the surrounding area all the time, and plenty of people would much rather stay local than sit in traffic into the city. We'll plan the locations on the call either way. If you'd rather come into Austin for the variety, that's completely fine too.
None of my photos are of just me. Is that normal?
Very. It's all family photos, group shots on the boat and someone else's birthday. Lovely, but nobody on Hinge can tell which one you are. We'll get a set where it's just you, looking like you on a good day, around Lakeway or wherever you'd rather be.
Is dating profile photography something people near Lakeway actually do?
More than you'd expect out here. It's a session built for one purpose, and that's photographs for your dating profile. Not headshots, not portraits. Most people are running a profile made of photos taken for something completely different, which is why so many of them feel a bit off without you being able to say why.
How does a Lakeway session work?
We go and have a good time, and I take photos while it happens. Properly, though: phone call first about what you actually like doing, then I'll text you the shortlist whether you book or not. Book and you get the facial coaching video to watch beforehand. On the day we talk for a while first, practise the coaching in front of a mirror, warm up indoors, then get outside. Three to four hours, up to seven outfits. Gallery in three to five days with the Selects already numbered.
Is the lake a good backdrop, or is it a cliche?
It's only a cliche when it's got nothing to do with you, and that's true of every location. If you're out on the water most weekends then it makes an honest, genuinely distinctive photo and I'll happily build the whole day around it. If you've never been out there, we'll go somewhere that actually says something about you instead. The best photos sit where something you really do meets a good candid image.
Why not just have a friend shoot it?
Look, your mate's great, but the difference is direction. Your mate photographs you, whereas my job is getting you to look like yourself on a good day, which is much harder than it sounds. And you leave with a set that works together rather than six attempts at one pose in the same shirt.
How current do my photos need to be?
Let's all say it together: no catfishing! Current, and honestly you. It's why I don't retouch, only colour and process, and why AI-generated anything is a hard no. If your best photo is two years and one haircut ago, that's not a reason to keep it in rotation. That's the reason to book. The sessions are also way more fun than people expect.
